Space and Scilence

Dr Fehmi who developed  techniques for training the mind discovered in his research that when we pay attention to space and or silence our brains  produce synchronous alpha waves.  Alpha waves tend to predominate when we are almost asleep and also when we meditate. There has been a lot of study done in recent years on the benefits of training our minds to be more in an ' alpha' state rather than in higher frequencies such as beta waves.  Spending more time in alpha frequencies has a very positive effect on our physiology .
It lowers high blood pressure
Lowers the levels of blood lactate, reducing anxiety attacks
Decreases any tension-related pain, such as, tension headaches, ulcers, insomnia, muscle and joint problems
Increases serotonin production that improves mood and behaviour.
Improves the immune system
Increases the energy level, as you gain an inner source of energy.
These are just the physical benefits , there are also deep emotional benefits , calmness, peace and  joy become your daily companions.
When you learn to love the peace that arises in stillness you have found a home where ever you go.
Even in a busy city you can pay attention to the silence that interpenetrates all the sounds.
But if you are lucky you can spend time in deep silence away from traffic where it is even easier to sink into your own connection to the mysterious wonder of space and silence.
