Ballyhigue strand after the funeral

        His brother read the poem I wept with it's beauty and truth.

                                        Love's Philosophy

                            The fountains mingle with the river,

                            And the rivers with the ocean;

                           The winds of heaven mix forever

                           With a sweet emotion;

                           Nothing in the world is single;

                           All things by a law divine

                           In another's being mingle--

                           Why not I with thine?

                           See, the mountains kiss high heaven,

                           And the waves clasp one another;

                          No sister flower could be forgiven

                          If it disdained its brother;

                          And the sunlight clasps the earth,

                          And the moonbeams kiss the sea;--

                          What are all these kissings worth,

                          If thou kiss not me?

                                          Percy Bysshe Shelley

              The view of the ocean called.

                Birds were feeding by the waters edge.

 Heart overflowed with love and gratitude.

               Stood in wonder at this beauty.

    Spirit filled I turned for home.

 Knowing I was not alone.

I stumbled upon a book in the public library today which seems to chime with this theme. It's called 'A Gift from the Sea' written by Anne Morrow Lindberg - the copy was a 50th Anniversary edition marking the book's initial 1955 publication. Maybe see if your local library might have it in stock. I think you might like it. best from John Connell

When you love someone you do not love them, all the time, in the exact same way, from moment to moment. It is an impossibility. It is a lie to pretend to. And yet this is exactly what most of us demand. We have so little faith in the ebb and flow of life, of love, of relationships.”

One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach. One can only collect a few. One moon shell is more impressive than three. There is only one moon in the sky.”
