Only fat people drink Diet Coke, according to Paris Hilton and Joan Collins. Okay, they might not be top of the list of people you’d go to with your burning nutrition questions. But in 2005 researchers at the University of Texas did in fact find that people who drank artificially-sweetened beverages were more likely to gain weight than those who drank sugar-sweetened beverages. (Link to the press release: http://uthscsa.edu/hscnews/singleformat2.asp?newID=1539) This has come to be known as the Diet Soda Paradox. Ten years on, researchers still don’t know for sure why this paradox exists, and if Paris and Joan know, they’re not telling. I studied philosophy, not biology or nutrition, so I certainly don’t have an answer to the question of why people who drink ‘diet’ beverages might gain weight. I do, however, have questions: Why do we consume so much artificially-sweetened stuff? Why are artificially-sweetened beverages marketed differently to men than they are to women (think of Pepsi Max/Diet Pepsi, or Coke Zero/Diet Coke)? Why are we, as a population, not getting thinner despite the amount of ‘diet’ food we consume? And who is ‘we’ in this context anyway? I would like to invite you to join me in exploring these and other questions in Fat, Food and Feminism, part of UCC’s Adult Continuing Education Short Courses series. We will meet on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 pm, from September 30th to November 4th at the Brookfield Health Sciences complex on College Road. The fee is €150. The closing date for registration is Friday 18th of September 2015. Visit http://www.ucc.ie/en/ace-sc0016/ for more information and to register.

Cheng Man Ching
I am so grateful to my friend Pat for sending me the link to the Cheng Man Ching video below.
Our 'T'ai Chi' style comes to us through John Kells, who studied with Master Chi, a student of Cheng Man Ching.
Cheng Man Ching was a student of the famous Yang Cheng Fu, who was a 3rd generation master of the Yang Family style of Tai Chi Chuan. Cheng went on to develop his own shortened version of the Tai Chi form based on the Yang style. Cheng Man Ching spent many years in Taiwan, where he taught Tai Chi to students such as Benjamen Lo, T.T. Liang, William C.C. Chen and others. Later, Cheng moved to the United States where he taught many Americans the art of Tai Chi Chuan

Moving From Fear To Courage
Here is my friend Eva on her first Sky Dive !
Wow I for one think that it takes courage to jump from a plane at 12,000 feet!
This is what happens when you move beyond fear to courage.
YOU CAN DO MORE.
Now Sky Diving might not be right for you, but you may have some fears that are holding you back from living your life to the full.
When you learn to RELEASE those fears you move yourself up into COURAGEOUSNESS where even the impossible becomes possible.
Learn how easy it to Let Go and move from Fear To Courage at Sunday's
" Letting Go OF I CAN'T " Workshop.

And to enjoy the process.
That is why we find ourselves here even on cold summer days when home comforts seem more atractive.

Letting Go Of " I Can't "
About twenty years ago I had a really bad experience when I tried to ride a horse. I was completely terrified and couldn't even stay sitting on the horse while someone was holding the rains for me.
Looking back I can remember the awful feeling of fear and powerlessness. Back then I had no way of soothing that fear so I just got off and buried the incident.
Last year ( while I was at the Sedona Method Retreat ) I noticed lots of horse back riding advertisements on the notice boards in shops and cafes in the town.
Remembering my previous experience I decided to release my fear and give it a go.
Was I frightened YES ! Was I afraid I'd repeat what had happened before YES!
Did it STOP me No.
I kept allowing up all my feelings of " I Can't" I kept releasing on each one as it appeared.
As you can see I did stay on the horse, actually I spent about two hours trekking from,
this vineyard.
Where I met my pony.
Along a creek and over the hills,
Back to the ranch.
Relaxed and satisfied to have challenged my limiting fear,
having confirmed to mysel that 'Releasing' really
works on practical issues.
If you would like to challenge some of your limiting beliefs and Let Them Go come along to my next Workshop it will be fun and you will go home lighter and empowered with skills to move forward in life.

Resonating With LOVE
It is easy to resonate with LOVE.
Firstly you decide that you want to !
Then bring to mind someone or some thing you LOVE.
Breath in thinking of your beloved person or object,
A L O N G S L O W - I N B R E A T H
FEELING THE LOVE
Notice how you feel .
Now think of the same 'beloved ' or a new one and repeat.
Close your eyes and play with breathing in LOVE.
Notice that your out breath feels LOVING.
You are Resonating with LOVE
